Chopin Concerts take place directly at the Cracow Market Square about three times a week. At 7 o'clock p.m. there is such a concert in the Polonia House (Dom Polonia) and at the same hour in the Dom pod Gruszka restaurant (Balazar Fontana Hall). Admissions for both Chopin Concerts amount to 12 Euros per person. Earlier reservation should be done! Tickets are avaiable directly at the mentioned places or in the concerts office in ul. Jana.

Composer Frederic Chopin

Frederic Chopin, the greatest Polish composer of all times, was born 1810 nearby Warsaw (Zelazowa Wola). Very early he published first works, finished his piano studies and finally studied composition at the Warsaw Conservatory. After many concerts as pianist in Poland and abroad he settled down in Paris in the year 1830, where he soon became a celebrated pianist. In 1849 - beeing quit young - Frederic Chopin died of pulmonary tuberculosis. His composer styl is characterised with a romantical melancholical base, stylish virtuosic music and the introduction of national dance elements.

Chopin Concerts - the right way

These vespertine Chopin Concerts at the Cracow Market Square have been organised only since last year, but already now it's unthinkable to resign from them. They are well accepted by people visiting the city of Cracow. Thanks to the Chopin Concerts, foreign tourists have the possibility to get acquainted with an important part of Polish culture expressed by Chopin and his music. Chopin is not only music, it is a way of thinking and living. The Concerts at the Cracow Philharmonics are great and worthy, but they primarily perform western composers which you can listen to all over the world.
